Pioneer of electrical research, Andrew Crosse of Fyne Court, Broomfield, Somerset was a modest, gentle man, a poet, naturalist,  local magistrate and scientist.

His memorial was erected by his second wife, Cornelia.
The inscription reads
"He was humble towards God and kind to his fellow creatures"
